PENSACOLA, Fla. (WISH/WALA) - A federal judge has ruled troubled Hamilton County financial
advisor Marcus Schrenker is competent to stand trial.
The decision was based on an evaluation performed April 17 at
a Federal detention center in Miami. The 16 page report has been
sealed by Judge Roger Vincent.
Authorities say in January Schrenker put his plane on
autopilot, made false distress calls and bailed out of his plane
before it crashed in Florida in an effort to fake his own
death.
He was found two days later at a campground near Tallahassee.
The financial advisor told Good Morning America earlier this
week he's had mental problems since 2007 and was not of sound mind
before parachuting from his plane.
Neither the U.S. Attorney or Schrenker's Attorney would
comment on the proceeding.
His trial date is scheduled for June 8. Jury Selection will
begin that day at 9 a.m.
