Britney tops Yahoo! 2008 search terms

NEW YORK - On Monday, Yahoo! released their top 2008 search terms. Britney Spears was the top search for 2008. WWE was second and Barack Obama was third.

About Britney, Yahoo said that 'The singer's steep trajectory to redemption restored her to the top of searches.'

Yahoo!'s Top 10 lists were categorized into Top 10 News , Celebrity , Olympians , Politicians , Women , Economy , and Farewells .

Topping the News category was Hurricanes followed by Caylee Anthony, the missing 3-year-old girl from Florida, and her mother, Casey. Election 2008 came in third in the category.

Yahoo! said the story Caylee Anthony captivated interest because of the suspicious circumstances surrounding her disappearance.

The top Farewells search was actor Heath Ledger, who died on January 22. Comedian Bernie Mac was second.
