One dead after police pursuit

OWEN COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - One person is dead following a police pursuit early Sunday morning on state road 46 near Elletsville.

Police said the driver fled a traffic stop and the pursuit lasted about twenty minutes before the driver lost control into an Owen County field.

When officers approached the scene they heard gunfire from inside the vehicle.

The driver was pronounced dead as a result of self-inflicted gun shot wounds.

Owen County Sheriff’s office is still investigating the case.
