INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - An Indiana House committee plans to take up legislation this week that could be amended to include provisions to help casinos.

The bill as introduced by House Democrats is a plan by Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels to help the cash-strapped agency that operates professional sports venues and the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.

But Democratic Rep. Charlie Brown of Gary says he'll offer an amendment to the bill in committee that would relocate one of two riverboat casinos on Lake Michigan in Gary to a site in that city near Interstate 65. The committee could consider other measures to help boost casino revenues.

Republican leaders say gambling should not be a part of the special session that started last week.
