GOP leader McConnell hosts fundraiser for Mourdock

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is heading to Indianapolis to help Republican Richard Mourdock as they seek control of the Senate.

The National Republican Senatorial Committee says McConnell will join Mourdock in Indianapolis on Monday night to raise money and watch the final presidential debate.

Republican senators have flocked to Indiana in the past month as it became clear the state's once-safe Republican seat could be snatched up by Democrat Joe Donnelly. Arizona Sen. John McCain and South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham argued last week that Indiana is critical to them winning back control of the Senate.

U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar remains a glaring exception to the increased support. Lugar has said he will vote for Mourdock but will not campaign for the man who ended his 36-year Senate career.
