INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - More Indiana Democrats are headed to Washington, DC.
The list of Indiana Democrats who now have new jobs that require U.S. Senate approval is up to six.
Anne Slaughter Andrew, wife of former Democratic National Chairman Joe Andrew, has been appointed Ambassador to Costa Rica.
Jill Long Thompson, the 2008 candidate for governor has been appointed to the Farm Credit Administration Board.
They join former Bloomington Mayor John Fernandez in the Obama Administration. He is an assistant secretary of Commerce. Former Indiana Congressman Tim Roemer is Ambassador to India.
Former Obama campaign advisor Kip Tew said the Obama win in Indiana last year didn't guarantee those appointments.
"I didn't have any real expectation, but I'm actually very pleased that folks from Indiana are being recognized by the administration," said Tew.
They include IU law professor Dawn Johnsen, nominated to a Justice Department post, and David Hamilton, nominated as a federal appeals court Judge.
Dan Parker, the state Democratic Chairman, said there may be more appointments.
"We've got a lot of great folks that can serve the country well," he said.
It's just some of the fallout from a campaign that brought Barack Obama to Indiana on almost 50 campaign stops on the way to the first Democratic win in Indiana since 1968.
Parker said, "This is a good thing for Indiana and a good thing for the country.”
"We do have friends in the White House," said Tew.
The president must still make appointments for U.S. Attorney and federal marshal positions in Indiana.
There is speculation that one of those spots could go to Linda Pence, the 2008 candidate for Attorney General.
