Walorski paints rosy Indiana picture in RNC speech

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Republican Party's pick for Indiana's 2nd District has avoided tea party talk in her few minutes in the national spotlight at the Republican National Convention in Tampa.
Jackie Walorski used her brief speech Tuesday to argue that Indiana's work on its state budget in the last eight years should be a national model.
Walorski's speech is part of a new tack in her run to win the seat being vacated by Democratic U.S. Rep. Joe Donnelly. Walorski's first campaign ad claimed she was a bipartisan operator in the Indiana General Assembly.
The strategy is markedly different from her 2010 run against Donnelly where she harnessed tea party discontent to nearly knock off Donnelly.
Walorski is running against Democrat Brendan Mullen.
