INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Republicans and Democrats in the General Assembly are close to a deal that would wrap up the 2010 Session.
Key GOP Senators emerged from the House Speaker's office just before Noon to report that they are on the verge of a compromise on issues that include a jobs bill and a delay in the scheduled bailout of the state's unemployment system.
Speaker of the House Pat Bauer told 24-Hour News 8’s Jim Shella that he felt like the meetings helped make “ a lot of progress.” He even said the General Assembly would “possible” finish up Thursday.
:A lot of the documents are already prepared and I think that within a few hours here we can have these documents prepared and voted on today and we can go home for the year,” said Sen. Luke Kenley (R-Noblesville).
The deadline for action is Sunday; Many lawmakers, however, will lose their hotel rooms tonight because of the Big Ten Basketball Tournament.
