BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) - Indiana University is gathering Gov.-elect Mike Pence's congressional papers and memorabilia at its Bloomington campus with plans to open much of it to the public in 10 years.

The university announced a partnership with the outgoing congressman to keep documentation of his Washington career at its Herman B. Wells Library for a limited time. The university also houses documents from other Indiana congressional members, including Lee Hamilton, Birch Bayh, Frank McClosky and J. Edward Roush.

Pence said Friday he hopes the documents will help students and researchers better understand the workings of Congress.

Most of the contents of Pence's congressional tenure will remain sealed for 10 years or until after his death. But broadly available documents including speeches and newsletters will be available immediately.
