PETERSBURG, Ind. (AP) - A southern Indiana mayor is resigning his job to take a position in the incoming administration of Gov.-elect Mike Pence.

Petersburg Mayor Jon Craig tells the Evansville Courier & Press he'll resign effective Jan. 25 to become the new deputy director of the Office of Community and Rural Affairs under Lt. Gov.-elect Sue Ellspermann.

Craig says he he's "very excited about the new opportunity."

He'll be replaced through a Pike County Republican Party caucus.
