INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Democratic candidate John Gregg wants to make the $206 million in missing state tax money an issue in the race for governor.
Gregg appeared at the Statehouse Friday morning to call for an investigation. He suggested that the Daniels administration could use some basic training in accounting practices while holding up the book "Accounting for Dummies," but also criticized a reorganization of Office of Management and Budget. He called it a "Washington solution."
Gregg then called on his opponent, Republican Mike Pence, to address the matter publicly.
"I've never known him to pass up a microphone and can't imagine him being unavailable," said Gregg. "You know, this isn't Congress, you can't hide. When you're governor of Indiana, Hoosiers want action. They want a workhorse, they want someone who's going to get in there and who's going to be minding the shop."
A spokesman for Mike Pence says the congressman is unavailable for comment.
