Report reveals more about alleged locker room assault at Carmel HS

CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) - For the first time since I-Team 8 broke the story of what is now being referred to as the "Carmel bullying case," Carmel Police are characterizing just what happened in the locker room at Carmel High School.

A revised police report for the first time describes what happened in the locker room incident on January 8 saying, someone "had held" someone "down, pulled down his shorts."

Read the revised police report and letter from the Carmel city attorney

The locker room incident being referred to in the revised report is separate from another altercation said to have taken place on the basketball team bus . The charges in the locker room case include criminal deviate conduct and sexual battery .

Since 24-Hour News 8 first reported the story, we've been aggressively pursuing the facts and details of the case through both the school district as well as the city of Carmel itself.

Monday's less redacted report is a direct result of a series of requests and exchanges we've had with both of those agencies through our attorneys.

In a letter that accompanied Monday's revised report, the city attorney says that while they stand by the amount of information they redacted in the original report, they "do agree that Carmel's redaction of the 'locker room incident' was over-enthusiastic."

The city attorney also thanks 24-Hour News 8 for, "bringing this to my attention, and for providing me the opportunity to rectify the matter."

There are, in some ways, three stories transpiring: the original incident that happened on the team bus, the second case that is being investigated in the locker room and the our fight to hold the city and the district accountable, to be transparent about just what happened.

Timeline: See how the Carmel bullying case has played out over the past month

24-Hour News 8 has continued to pursue the information doggedly with the help of our attorneys . It seems there has been some progress. Our work forced them to reassess their position and share more information with the public.
