Bill Gates is giving up on Facebook because "It was too much trouble."
AFP reported that the Microsoft co-founder said he was forced to quit the popular social networking site because too many people wanted to be his friend -- approximately 10,000 people. He said he had trouble figuring out who he really knew.
Gates announced the news this weekend in India where he was being honored for all his charity work and received the Indira Gandhi Prize for Peace, Disarmament and Development, awarded by the government of India.
The billionaire computer geek-turned-philanthropist also said he was "not that big at text messaging" and "not a 24-hour-a-day tech person."
Many other celebrities and corporations have someone else run their Facebook pages, but Gates chose to just give up the habit.
Facebook friends can accumulate fast -- there's even an application that helps you add friends faster . Many celebrities have profiles with the most friends on the social networking site including No. 10 Jack Black with 318,110 friends, No. 9 Morgan Freeman (336,693 friends), No. 7 Johnny Knoxville (377,806 friends), and No. 3 Adam Sandler (916,832 friends). But the person with the most Facebook friends is Olympic champion swimmer Michael Phelps with a whopping 1,692,982.
