INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The RCA Dome deflation certainly caught the eyes of folks all around downtown Wednesday morning.

From the ground below or building windows up high, it was the talk of the town.

"Anytime you see something major like the removal of a building of that stature, I guess it's a big deal," said John Shertzer.

"We've seen buildings implode and we've seen destruction, but you've never seen a Dome, a big white Dome come down," said Dave Guarino.

In just about 40 minutes the Dome was deflated. Patty Marple saw it go up 24 years ago, and witnessed it go down.

"I kind of hate to see it go but Lucas Oil Stadium is beautiful and it's a great facility, so just the start of a new era," said Marple.

It didn't fall in one fell swoop, but in a super-slow, reverse bubbling downward. Kind of anti-climactic, but the deflation isn't deflating memories or hopes.

"It's like the backyard shed and the stadium is like the new house so it's time to move in and let the old one go," said Vino.

"I did a lot of different events inside there. It was great, but I'm glad to see it go and to see the new Indianapolis get started," said Andrew Sparkman.
