Addai's TD pass was highlight of Colts' win

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - It wasn't a pretty win but it was a win. Peyton Manning, the Colts three-time league MVP failed to throw a touchdown pass for the first time since November 30, 2008. So with the Colts offense a little out of sync, they pulled out some tricks on this Halloween weekend. Instead of Manning throwing a TD pass they left the job to running back Joseph Addai.

"It wasn't my plan but I was able to put it at the back of the end zone for Reggie, nobody was there around him," Addai explained.

“Seems like it was up there forever plus he's a lefthander so ball was spinning the opposite way felt like when I caught it was near the bathroom," Reggie Wayne said of the play.

Offensive lineman Ryan Diem remarked, "To see Joe take that ball and run out wide and toss it, I saw the ball it wasn't a pretty pass but good enough reg got the big fantastic catch , big play, big play."

Addai, a former high school All-American quarterback was able to dust off his throwing arm for his old coach.

Addai said, "You know what my high school coach was in the stands him and his wife were in the stands so I know that made him feel good about putting me a QB in high school."

The play that gave Addai his first NFL touchdown is something the Colts had been working on.

Peyton Manning, the Colts real quarterback, said, "We actually worked on it. We ran it twice this week and the first time we didn't look like we were selling it, thought it looked like pass too quickly if it looked like a pass too quickly they are going to react and so I gotta believe he really sold the run."

And they definitely sold it the 49ers defense fell for it hook line and sinker.

San Fransisco Cornerback Shawntae Spencer remarked, “I watched hours and hours of film something I've never seen from them. (I was) talking to Reggie after the game and he said that was something, they hadn't run that play in nine years."

Wayne added, "That is something we've been practicing for years and never actually got a chance to do it and came on right today."

It was the first touchdown by a Colts non-quarterback since Ken Dilger threw one in 2001
