INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Colts already have a plan in place for the post-Dungy era in Indianapolis. The team announced last year that assistant coach Jim Caldwell would take over when the time came for Dungy to step down.

A news conference has been scheduled for noon Tuesday at the Colts complex.

Caldwell spent 23 seasons in the college game, including a seven-year stint as head coach at Wake Forest. He joined Dungy in Tampa in 2001 to work with quarterbacks and came to the Colts with Dungy the next season.

Caldwell interviewed for head coaching positions in Minnesota and Arizona before Dungy made him assistant head coach.

At Monday's press conference announcing his retirement, Dungy said the team will be in good hands.

"My personal opinion, if Jim Irsay was looking for a coach and interviewed all these guys that I'm seeing being interviewed, he would interview Jim Caldwell and say 'That's the best guy out there.'," said Dungy.
