INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Indiana Fever are on a roll. They have won nine straight and have the best record in the WNBA. The ladies haven’t lost since losing their first two games, including their home opener against Minnesota. After that game, Coach Lin Dunn asked fans to give her team another chance.
"Give us another chance, OK? We're going to play Seattle on Tuesday, come back for that game. I'd like to have a mulligan with this game tonight. I know we can play better," said Dunn.
Dunn was right, the Fever could play better and they have proven it.
Forward Katie Douglas said, "It's easy to roll over when you are down. It's really tough to get back up when you have been kicked and all that, been down."
Douglas knows first-hand about toughness. In the Fever's game against Seattle, their first win of the current win streak, Douglas left in the third quarter looking like she had been in a boxing ring -- but was back by the end of the game.
"When Katie got that black eye and came back in, it was like a sign that we were going to be warriors and I loved it," said Dunn.
Douglas added, "If that's what it takes to get the team going. ...I'm not sure I want to do it again, wasn't the most pleasant thing to go through."
Whether it is the mulligan or Douglas’ black eye, the Fever took control of their season and have not looked back.
"We really have tried to focus on each game one-by-one and we have come out every single game and we get ready...prepare for the game and we focus," said all-star Tamika Catchings.
They are also focused on their ultimate goal: winning the WNBA title.
"We are not happy right now. We do have a championship as that top goal we are looking toward, so coach stays on us every single day," said Tammy Sutton Brown.
The Fever look to continue their domination Wednesday at home --
when they host Chicago in a 1:00 p.m. game.
