INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The best swimmers in the United States are in Indianapolis this week for the national championships -- including the greatest swimmer of all time. Michael Phelps said he still has a lot to prove.

After taking several months off -- including a suspension for being pictured inhaling from a marijuana pipe -- Phelps is back to compete.
"Our plan and goal was to get ready for this meet and hopefully go from here to world champs," said Phelps.
The 14-time gold medalist is no stranger to Indianapolis. It was at the IUPUI natatorium in 2000 that he made his first Olympic team.
"We definitely have some good memories and had some really good meets. So, I'm looking forward to swimming here again, I haven't swam here in a really long time," said Phelps.
Phelps’ coach, Bob Bowan said, "We have been coming here a long time and we always have great meets. I think the environment is always good. The fans are really vocal and like the come out so we are looking forward to it."
Phelps won a record eight gold medals in Beijing but he's only swimming four events this week -- all sprints -- giving America's most decorated Olympian another challenge.
"There are a lot of little goals that I want to accomplish and that's the only reason I came back. I have unfinished business," said Phelps.
For the next five days Phelps' job -- along with America's other top swimmers -- is to make the American team for the world championship. That means being the top two in every race.
