SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) - During the month of May, it’s common to see campers parked at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Multiple drivers stay at the track during May, using RVs as a home away from home while at the speedway. Driver Paul Tracy gave 24-Hour News 8 a sneak peek into where he stays.
Tracy has had his RV for about 12 years and has been using a camper at the track since 1994.
“I’ve kind of done it my whole career,” he said, sitting in his camper. “I enjoy it. I like being at the track and having a little place to go.”
During rain delays this May, Tracy said having an escape has been useful. When he can’t be driving on the track, he feels like he can easily get in the way. Heading back to his RV for a nap is a good solution.

Greeting guests to Tracy’s RV is a welcome mat with one word: “Leave.” Inside, the door opens into a lounge area with two couches facing each other. A small table provides an eating area next to a hallway that doubles as a kitchen.
Tracy’s refrigerator is filled primarily with Muscle Milk, a protein shake. A lone jar of jam, some soft drinks and rice milk are also inside.
Back in his bedroom, Tracy has a shower stall and sink area, along with a full-sized bed. He keeps a rosary hanging bedside.
