MIAMI (AP) - Jurors in Miami continue deliberating in the tax evasion trial
of Brazilian race car driver Helio Castroneves and his two
co-defendants.
The jury reached a partial verdict Thursday but was hung up
on several counts, so Federal Judge Donald Graham asked that the
deliberations continue Friday. The judge withheld the verdicts
until they are all reached.
Castroneves is charged with conspiring with his sister and
lawyer to evade more than $2.3 million in U.S. income taxes. All
three face more than six years in prison if convicted of conspiracy
and tax evasion between 1999 and 2004.
Castroneves has twice won the Indianapolis 500 and was the
champ of TV's "Dancing with the Stars" in 2007.
