INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - October 16 is a sad day for race fans everywhere. Today marks the one year anniversary of 2-time Indy 500 champion Dan Wheldon's tragic death.
Wheldon was only 33 years old when a collision at the IndyCar finale in Las Vegas claimed his life.
This afternoon, he was trending on Twitter locally. Many in the race community poured out their hearts on the one year anniversary.
Dario Franchitti wrote on his Twitter page, “Thinking of Dan. Lots of love to Susie, Seb, Oliver @Hollywheldon and the whole Wheldon clan.”
Meanwhile, Tony Kanaan tweeted a photo of his friend with “Miss you.”
