SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) - The Target Chip Ganassi cars are back, placing on top of the speed charts in the final Indy 500 practice during Carb Day at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Dario Franchitti and Scott Dixon turned the two fastest speeds of the day. Franchitti and Dixon were disappointed with their cars during qualifications last weekend, both placing in row 5 for the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, but made adjustments during the week and had the best cars Friday running over 222 mph.
Andretti Autosports and Team Penske drivers make up the front two rows for the 500 and continued to showcase their speed today. Marco Andretti, James Hinchcliffe and Ryan Hunter-Reay of Andretti Autosports and Team Penske’s Will Power and Ryan Briscoe all had top ten speeds.
Carb Day top-ten speeds:
Sam Schmidt Autosports’ Estaban Guerrieri won The Indy Lights Freedom 100 which followed Friday’ final practice. The 40-lap race was Guerrieri’s second win of the season. With today’s victory, Guerrieri moved into 1st place in the Indy Lights driving standings.
24 Hour News 8 will have continued coverage of Carb Day and the Indy 500 at 5 p.m.
