Ganassi resigns Kimball's sponsor

Chip Ganassi Racing announced a multi-year sponsorship deal Tuesday with Novo Nordisk for IndyCar driver Charlie Kimball.

Novo Nordisk is a world leader in diabetes care, and Kimball is the first licensed driver with type 1 diabetes in IndyCar. Kimball was diagnosed with diabetes in 2007 and must monitor his blood sugar before, during and after races.

Terms of the deal were not released, but Ganassi called it a long-term commitment to his race team and praised Novo Nordisk for supporting the Izod IndyCar Series.

The series has been reeling since Dan Wheldon was killed in the Oct. 16 season finale at Las Vegas. The investigation into his death is ongoing.

Teams have been putting together deals in the month since the accident.
