INDIANAPOLIS (AP - Oriol Servia has posted the fastest time of the cars still trying to qualify for the Indianapolis 500.
The Spanish driver returned less than 24 hours after crashing on a warm-up lap and went 223.752 mph. His one-lap speed was better than the four-lap qualifying averages of 10 cars that qualified Saturday.
The final nine spots in the 33-car field are expected to be filled later Sunday.
Four-time Champ Car champion Sebastien Bourdais was the second-fastest at 223.479. Rookie Wade Cunningham was third at 222.794.
The only non-qualified driver not on Indy's 2.5-mile oval Sunday morning was Ed Carpenter, whose car was rebuilt after a hard crash Saturday.
Lotus' two drivers — Simona de Silvestro and rookie Jean Alesi — are still lagging behind the leaders.
