INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Matt Lancaster threw for three touchdowns and rushed for two more Saturday night as Butler beat Franklin College 42-13.

Lancaster passed for 258 yards and ran for 96 on 16 attempts, averaging 6 yards per carry. Brendan Shannon added 134 yards on the ground and two touchdowns on a 33-yard pass from Lancaster and a 24-yard pass from Wade Markley. Don Stewart scored on a 12-yard pass from Lancaster.

For the Division III Grizzlies, Jonny West was 15 of 30 for 137 yards, one interception and a 6 yard pass to James Vaughn for a touchdown. Connor Houston scored on a 6-yard pass from Scott Moore.

The Bulldogs (1-1) played under the lights at home for the first time since 1941. Lights were removed from the Butler Bowl after World War II, but were re-installed last year during a renovation.

Franklin fell to 0-2.
