INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - When the Bulldogs returned to Hinkle Fieldhouse after Monday night’s championship game, fans greeted the team with cheers.
The Butler team filed off their bus, grabbed their gear, and headed into the Fieldhouse just like they would after any other game.
At 2 a.m., after one of the toughest games of his basketball career, star forward Matt Howard was already looking forward to getting back on the court.
"It was pretty exciting just got to get back to work and want to get back to this point," said Howard.
Matt Howard's father who is a mail carrier said things have not been the same at work over the past few days because everyone just wants to talk about his son and his basketball career.
In the dark parking lot outside Hinkle Fieldhouse, Howard's oldest brother took a moment to look back on the Butler season.
"I don't know if it will ever happen again," said Dan Howard.
But Matt Howard is already thinking about next season, saying the team needs to get back on the court right away if they want to make it back to the championship next season.
