INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - We're gearing up for March Madness as the Butler Bulldogs get ready to play in the NCAA Tournament.
The Butler Bulldogs plan to leave for San Jose Tuesday and they're also counting on fans to come show support.
"It's very exciting. Our fans have been looking forward to this," said Mike Freeman, Butler University Associate Athletic Director.
The Butler University Bulldogs are gearing up for a big game.
"We're good friends with those guys and we see them around campus and it's just an awesome thing to see them make it that far," said Freshman David Thomas.
Last week, the Bulldogs won the Horizon League Tournament - now the team is headed to the NCAA Tournament.
"There's a lot of teams that don't get this opportunity. For the committee to select us and give us such a good seed, and send us out to California to play a good team - it's special," said Bulldog forward Willie Veasley.
Butler is traveling to San Jose to play UTEP in the first round of the tournament. The team is also counting on fans to come show support.
"We just want to have as many Bulldogs fans there as we can," said Freeman.
Here's the package Butler is offering to fans: $300 will get you a hotel room and a ticket to Thursday's game. That ticket will also get you a seat to the Vanderbuilt-Murray State match-up.
If the team wins.. fans will be charged another $200 for another night in the hotel.. and a ticket to Saturday's game.
"We've sold quite a few tickets; we still have tickets available," said Freeman.
Some fans won't get to travel, but have other big plans. "We're going to get together and have a little screening party or something like that and just cheer on the team as much as we can," said Freshman Daniel Haber.
Veasley said Bulldog fans won't disappoint. "We've always had a good following. All four years. You know, I'm just expecting just as many that have been following us from my Freshman year to be out there supporting us."
If you can't make the trip, and you want to help support the Bulldogs in the NCAA Tournament, several viewing parties will be held across Indianapolis.
