TERRE HAUTE (AP) - Indiana State won for the first time in more than three years on Saturday, defeating Western Illinois 17-14 and ending the nation’s longest losing streak at 33 games.
Ryan Roberts scored his second touchdown on a 4-yard run with 4 minutes 12 seconds to play as the Sycamores drove 80 yards for the winning score. Roberts, a sophomore quarterback, had a 91-yard scoring run earlier in the game and finished with 160 yards rushing in the game for Indiana State (1-7, 1-4 Missouri Valley).
Only Prairie View A&M (80 games), Columbia (44) and Northwestern (34) have ever lost more games consecutively. The Sycamores hadn’t won since beating Missouri State 28-22 on Oct. 21, 2006.
