Akron defeats Ball State

MUNCIE (WISH) - Quincy Diggs and Brian Walsh  scored 16 points each as Akron won for the sixth time in seven games with a 70-58 victory over Ball State on Tuesday night.

Alex Abreu added 12 points, all on 3-pointers, and seven assists for the Zips (13-7, 5-1 Mid-American), who lead the MAC East.

Demetrius Treadwell scored 11.

Jarrod Jones had 25 points and nine rebounds for the Cardinals (12-6, 4-2), whose two-game winning streak ended.

Randy Davis scored 11 points.

Jones scored the first nine points of the game before Abreu got Akron on the board with 16:02 left in the first half.

The Cardinals led 30-27 at intermission, but the Zips gained control by breaking away from a 36-36 tie with a 6-0 run.

Diggs hit a basket and two free throws before Treadwell scored for a 42-36 edge with 12:24 left. Akron led the rest of the way.
