Butler's Nored to coach Brownsburg Bulldogs

BROWNSBURG, Ind. (WISH) - One famous local student will not have to face a difficulty so many other college students are facing: finding a job after graduation.

Ronald Nored, guard for the Butler University basketball teams that went to back-to-back Final Fours in the NCAA Tournament, has already landed his first coaching gig.

The former Bulldog will lead the Brownsburg High School Bulldogs. He landed the job exactly one week after his last college game as a player.

Nored has long said he'd like to coach when his playing days are over, but few could have guessed the change would happen so quickly.

WISH-TV’s sports department learned about the decision Tuesday night. Then, Wednesday morning, the school board approved Nored's hiring and made the formal announcement.

In his first comments as coach, Nored acknowledged the tall task ahead.

"I know that there's a lot of work ahead and we're going to get started on that work immediately. I'm excited to work with the players," he said. "[I] just got the opportunity to watch the state championship - the 4A state championship game last weekend. And needless to say, we open up with the State Champions Nov. 21. So, we have a lot of work to get to that point, and I'm excited and looking forward to doing that."

Clearly this is no small, starter job. Brownsburg is only four years removed from a State Championship.

Nored has coached AAU basketball the past two summers. At Brownsburg, he'll replace Josh Kendrick, who resigned earlier this month after eight seasons with the team.

Nored is scheduled to graduate from Butler in May.
