BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) - The Indiana University Athletics Department is downplaying a report claiming the naming rights to Assembly Hall could be for sale.
The Indianapolis Business Journal reports IU Athletic Director Fred Glass said he'd consider offering naming rights if someone came forward with a large enough donation.
The story said Glass dismissed the idea of a corporate logo on the court.
Students at IU said they were shocked by the news.
“Nothing will ever change my love for IU basketball," said IU Student David Hammans. "I obviously love it but It would be kind of depressing to me. It’s been known as Assembly Hall for the longest time and that has a special meaning to me."
An IU Athletic Department spokesman says there are no plans now, or in the future, for a name change to Assembly Hall.
