EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Javon McCrea scored 14 points and Cameron Downing added 12 and Buffalo picked up a 56-50 victory over Evansville on Thursday night.
Evansville (0-2) led by as many as nine points in the first half, but a 12-0 run in the second half by the Bulls (1-2) proved to be the difference. Lewis Jones led the Aces with 14 while Egidijus Mockevicius hit 6-of-7 shots en route to 12 points. Ned Cox finished with 10.
A 3-pointer by Jones put Evansville up 32-25 early in the second half. That edge was short-lived, however, as a dunk by McCrea with 12 minutes left gave the lead back to the Bulls at 37-36.
The run by Buffalo would turn into a 12-0 stretch as the Bulls grabbed a 43-36 lead. Over the run, UB hit all six shots while UE was 0-6 with four turnovers.
