WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WISH) - Purdue football's going through an extremely disappointing season, and now may be playing for head coach Danny Hope's job.
Just four games remain starting with Penn State Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium, and with a disappointing 3-5 record, there's a lot on the line.
Hope thought his fourth team in West Lafayette would be his most talented, but it hasn't translated to victories, and there's a buzz about making a change.
Hope says he's heard the talk, but despite some very bad games, he hasn't seen any quit in his Boilers.
"We played poorly against some of the top teams in the country at home, Big Ten games, key games, games that were marked on our calendar as difference makers for our season, team and program, and we're not successful," said Hope.
Those losses?
44-13 to Michigan, 38-14 against Wisconsin, both at home, and last week's embarrassing 44-28 defeat at Minnesota where the Boilers were down big early.
Hope did make a quarterback change.
Senior Robert Marve is taking over for Caleb Terbush, but it might be too little too late.
"It's time to play ball, and it's time to play ball now. I've got coach Hope's back whatever happens, I'm not worried about that, I'm worried about winning,"said Marve.
Following Penn State, the Boilermakers visit Iowa and Illinois before wrapping up at home against IU in the battle for the Old Oaken Bucket on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
