IUPUI trip is about more than b-ball

The IUPUI men’s basketball team was at Conseco Fieldhouse Tuesday preparing for a seven day trip to Costa Rica.

The Jags will be playing in four games but they will also be distributing shoes to those in need. Coach Ron Hunter said he's happy to have the bonus time with his team this August and teaching them more than basketball.

"We have our entire team from last year, so I think this is going to benefit us. I think we will get closer doing this. But again, do you know what's weird? The kids are really excited," said Hunter. "All they talk about is 'we can't wait to give shoes out to these kids' and, you know, we talk about the games but our kids also love this mission about helping children."

The team leaves on Thursday, August 13 and returns August 19.
