Patriots showed total disrespect, Colts linebacker says

Belichick's decision a hot topic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Colts were the talk of the town Monday after Sunday night’s unbelievable come from behind win against the Patriots. The Colts have won five of the past six games against the Patriots. Everybody is still talking about Patriots Coach Bill Belichick deciding to go for it on fourth and two on their own 28 yard line with about two minutes to go.

The Colts defense stopped New England and Peyton Manning took over after that on a short field. A couple plays later, Reggie Wayne scored the game winning touchdown.

On Monday, the Patriots coach wasn't backing down from his decision.

"The same thing I said after the game,” said Belichick. “I thought it was our best chance to win. I thought we needed to make that one play and we could basically run out the clock and we weren't able to make it."

Head Coach Jim Caldwell refused to add to the chorus of criticism directed at Belichick.

"I'm never going to be one to try and pass judgments on anyone's decisions. All I know is that he's won more Super Bowl championships than many people dream about. So he knows what he is doing, that's for certain."

So what do the Colts defensive players think about the Patriots going for it on fourth down?

"We take a lot of pride and when you go for it on fourth down in that situation, we got to make a play and that's what we did," said defensive end Dwight Freeney.

Linebacker Clint Session took the Patriots’ decision personally.

"Total disrespect, total disrespect. They disrespect us and they got what they deserve. They fought hard for throughout the game but they disrespected us at the end and they got what they deserve,” said Session.

The 9-0 Colts have Tuesday off, but they return to work on Wednesday gearing up for the Baltimore Ravens. You can see the Colts at the Ravens on Sunday at 1 p.m. on WISH-TV.
