INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Colts fans began booking flights to Miami before the AFC championship game ended. But a game ticket, flight and hotel room is going to cost you.
John Barker is Super Bowl bound and on a budget. He spent much of Monday morning pricing South Beach hotel rooms. Going to the Super Bowl is a dream come true for Barker, who has been attending Colts home games with his dad since he was four.
This year, Barker's dad, a season ticket holder, was able to buy Super Bowl tickets. So Barker will only have to pay for travel to Miami and his hotel expenses.
"I'm trying to keep it on as low a budget as I can. If I can keep it $500 to $1,000, that would be awesome," said Barker.
Barker may not need a flight. The 28-year old entrepreneur owns Chicken Limo and is considering driving his yellow limousine, adorned with the head of a chicken, to Florida. He found a hotel room for $281.00 a night, which he plans to split with three roommates.
But most fans can plan on spending much more to get to the big game.
PrimeSport is the official fan travel partner for the Colts and the Saints. It offers packages that include a chartered roundtrip flight, hotel, fan parties and Super Bowl tickets. Their best packages are $7,645. Their packages with two occupants to a room and upper level seating at the game are 3,995.
Ambassadair is offering travel packages for about the same price. But the price goes up for guests who want a better seat at the game. All travel agents are promising a great time for those who have the cash.
If you want to book your own flight, you better get on it. Tuesday morning, flights were available for $194. But those prices steadily increased throughout the day. Travel agents warn prices will keep going up as flights fill up.
