TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WISH) - Colts Head Coach Jim Caldwell said Monday that defensive end Raheem Brock is expected to miss the rest of the preseason after breaking his left hand on Friday night against the Vikings.
Brock showed up in a cast for Monday's practice in Terre Haute. Coach Caldwell said Brock would miss two-to-four weeks, but he expects him to be ready to go for the regular season opener September 13 at home against Jacksonville.
Brock said it's tough not being able to practice.
"We're just trying to get healthy and get ready for the season opener. It looks like everybody will be ready for that first game. A lot of young guys are getting a lot of reps. They get to grow up faster and that's what we need, for them to get some experience early because we are definitely going to need them down the line. So it's going to help us out," said Brock.
Coach Caldwell said on Monday that his team's injury situation is frustrating but there's no time for excuses.
"We have a lot of guys getting a lot of valuable work, which has proven to be the case that often times you might not have a guy or two here and there. But we kind of believe in that next-man-up theory, that whoever shows up we coach them and we coach them hard and we will have a cohesive group that will be ready to go when it's time to kick it off," said Caldwell.
The Colts will practice Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Camp comes to an end on Wednesday morning.
