INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - A record crowd watched the Colts take on the Patriots Sunday
night inside Lucas Oil Stadium. But some fans going to the sell-out
game were left out in the cold. The Colts organization said they
confiscated stacks of counterfeit tickets for Sunday's game.
Metro Police arrested 35-year-old Kevin Williams of Michigan
after he allegedly sold one fan two counterfeit tickets.
Police said the victim presented the tickets at the ticket counter. He didn't find out they were counterfeit until employees told him so.
Larry Hall is the vice president of ticket operations and guest services with the Colts.
"Technologies are such that counterfeiters are becoming more sophisticated," said Hall.
Even still, Hall said Colts employees were able to spot the fakes in a matter of seconds.
"If someone has a valid ticket for the game, when they come for entry, we have access managers to scan those tickets. If a valid scan is made, then obviously you're admitted, then you'll find your seat," said Hall.
Colts fan Chad Sievers said he got his ticket from a reputable source.
"You really don't know what you're going to get when you go up to some person, some stranger on the street. You're putting a lot of faith in them and probably handing over a lot of money," said Sievers.
Police said the victim bought his two game tickets for $286.
Investigators said, in this case, he was able to get his money
back.
