INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - The Indianapolis Colts defense had a completely different look in Wednesday's practice. Half of the starters were out.

Among those not participating were safety Bob Sanders, defensive end Robert Mathis and middle linebacker Gary Brackett.

Things may not be as bleak by Sunday, although coach Tony Dungy is still uncertain about Sanders' status.

Dungy says the Colts (6-4) will wait until later this week to determine whether Sanders' right knee is healthy enough to play. He missed last week's game when there was swelling in the knee. But Dungy didn't sound nearly as concerned about the other players who were out today.

And cornerback Kelvin Hayden, who missed three straight games with a knee injury and has missed the last three with a hamstring injury, may finally be ready to go for the first time since Oct. 5.
