INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Colts Head Coach Jim Caldwell gave an injury update on his superstar quarterback Peyton Manning. Caldwell said that his quarterback has a sore knee but there's no serious injury.
Manning did receive some treatment from team doctors on that left knee that took a nasty hit late in the second quarter of Sunday’s game against Tennessee. It's the same knee that Manning had surgery on last summer. The injury didn’t seem to slow Manning against the Titans he threw for over 300 yards for the fifth game in a row.
Manning and the Colts are off this week because of the bye week.
On the defensive side of the football, the Colts have been solid as a rock this season, especially against Tennessee. They held a good Titans running game under 100 yards on Sunday night.
There’s more good news regarding the defense. On Monday, key defensive player Kelvin Hayden, who has been out due to a hamstring injury, said he plans to be back for the Colts next game at St. Louis on October 25.
"It's very frustrating, especially watching the game on TV, when the team is on the road. You're more battle-tested on the road so it's tough just screaming at the TV and things like that,” said Hayden. “But like I said, it's tough, it's a challenge but I just want to make the best of it. Not being on the field is the worst, but continuing doing the details of watching film and doing just everything but not being physical...trying to get myself back better physically." said Hayden.
The Colts will play the Rams at 1 p.m. on October 25.
