Polian: Vinatieri's job is safe

Colts likely to keep Stover for rest of year

Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri may still be out with a knee injury, but his replacement Matt Stover has been solid as a rock.

Stover has yet to miss a field goal and on Tuesday night, while taping The Bill Polian Show, the Colts president assessed the situation and how Stover's success affects Vinatieri's future.

“What it does, it gives us the opportunity to make sure Adam is 100 percent healthy before he comes back. And then we'll make that decision at that point. Matt knows that this is Adam's job, essentially,” said Polian. “But Matt has done a heck of a job and, if anything should go wrong with Adam, we are going to give him every opportunity to get that thing 100 percent well so we don't get into a spiral where it's good for a couple of weeks and then bad for a couple of weeks. Matt's been phenomenal and I wouldn't be surprise if we kept him the whole year.”

The 41-year-old Stover is 7-for-7 on field goals, 15-for-15 on extra points. This is the 20th season for Stover.

Manning delivers the groceries

Meanwhile, Colts quarterback Peyton Manning was giving back to the community once again. Tuesday night, he and his foundation helped 800 families. They gave grocery bags to families in need for Thanksgiving.

It’s been a tradition over the years for Manning to give away the priceless bags. They're especially valuable now since times are really tough for some families.

“We had over 100 volunteers yesterday helping us stuff these bags and all of them obviously had that same feeling that we are helping people out.” said Manning. “Giving each family a Thanksgiving meal plus a $25 dollar gift certificate to Marsh. So giving them a little bit more this year and every little bit helps. A lot of people come together to support this project and, like I said, to see the smiles on a mother's face or a child's face is really what it's all about."
