Colts get practice time despite weather

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Wet and wild weather threw a wrench in the plans of the Indianapolis Colts Thursday afternoon. The team moved their afternoon practice from Anderson University to the team’s training facilities in Indianapolis.

“We got the weather report from Dave (Hammer) and those guys, we tracked it, and we felt like they said there would be another storm coming through and we couldn’t afford with such a young team, we had to get the work in,” said Colts head coach Chuck Pagano. “I didn’t want to get stuck up there, and have the rain coming down and lightning and things like that, and have to go into the gym. We needed to work today. Now we’ll start to back off a little bit, get their legs back and get fresh for Sunday.”

All eyes continue to be on rookie quarterback Andrew Luck, who is preparing for his first game in the NFL. Players and coaches continue to be impressed with not only his mechanics, but his command of the offense.

“[He’s been] taking ownership of the team and taking ownership of the offense,” said Colts receiver Austin Collie. “He’s done a great job of that over the past few weeks, of making sure everyone knows that he’s the quarterback and he’s the chief and commander.”

“He’s got great knowledge about the offense already,” added Pagano. “He digests a ton, has great command of the huddle, knows what to do with the football. The guy is just, you know, he’s way ahead of the curve right now for a rookie quarterback. So it’s going to be great. He’s anxious to get out there in a live situation, in a live game and see where he’s at, like most of the guys are.”

Coach Pagano also told the media that the team expects to hold their Friday afternoon practice in Anderson rain or shine.
