Colts see running game come alive

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Colts found something Sunday against the Browns that’s been missing almost all season: the run game. The team ran for a season-high 148 yards in their 17-13 win over the Cleveland Browns.

“That was huge for us,” said interim head coach Bruce Arians. “We didn’t have it this year. We needed to get it going especially against that front. Once it starts going, it’s easy to stay with it and you get some good play action going.”

With previous starter Donald Brown out for the second straight week, rookie running back Vick Ballard took the bulk of the carries.

“We ran the ball early, and we ran it successful,” said Ballard. “I think what B.A. (Bruce Arians) wanted to do was stick with it, stick with what worked. He stuck with it and we were productive with it throughout the whole game and we came out with a ‘W.’”

Arians and the rest of his team know they need to keep their balance on offense going this week against Tennessee.

“I believe any football team wants to have a balanced offense. You want to be able to throw the ball and run. One complements the other,” added Ballard. “When you have a good running game, it obviously opens up the passing game and vice versa.”
