Colts to face running back challenge

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - It appears the Indianapolis Colts will face the NFL's top rookie running back Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Number three overall draft pick Trent Richardson will wear a special flak jacket to protect rib cartilage he injured during last week’s win over Cincinnati. Coach Pat Shurmur says the jacket is "bulletproof, and Richardson told me he already was.”

He's undoubtedly champing at the bit to take advantage of a Colts run defense that ranks 29th in the league. Hobbled Dwight Freeney, who says he will play again on a high ankle sprain, says he is trying to avoid doing too much.

"I'm going to continue to do the things I've always done,” Freeney said. “It's going to be tough, missing Robert, missing Cory, missing Fili, it's going to be a tough situation. Like I've always said, that's why there's 53 guys, that's why there's backups, sometimes they have to step in and play."
