INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Call it winning ugly. In a game that saw fifteen punts and numberous missed scoring opportunities, the Colts did just enough to survive.

Peyton Manning put it best. “It was just kind of one of those days. We call it a grinder where you just keep grinding it out. Fortunately, our defense kept them from scoring a lot, and they kept the game close."

Last week's game was completely different from this one.

"Anytime we play defense and its meaningful out there, our stops actually help provide us and secure that victory. It's a great feeling for the defense. They're all the same, 18-13, 42-6 last week, just as long as we got a "w" at the end of the day, it's all that counts," said defensive captain Gary Brackett.

Defensive tackle Daniel Muir added,"A win's a win, "w" is a "w." Every team in this league's good, so yeah, just got to keep grinding every day to get it done."

San Francisco was one the most physical teams the Colts have faced this fall.

“They came ready to play, run the ball well, we had to make adjustments to find a way to win. We needed this. The last few games, we started out quick and it fell into our hands, but we needed this,"" said cornerback Jerraud Powers, who came up with a fumble recovery.

Good teams win these kinds of games. "We need these games. If we continue to push to our goal of reaching the Super Bowl, we need these close games, fight through a little adversity and push forward, and we did that today,"" said Reggie Wayne, who matched a career high with twelve catches.

"They certainly had a good plan against us. It was a tight, tough game. You find a way to win. Our guys hung in there, came through, made some plays and performed well down the stretch," said Jim Caldwell, who has yet to lose a game as an NFL head coach.

So, the Colts win their 16th straight regular season game, and with Denver losing, the Colts are now the only unbeaten team in the AFC.
