INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The news about number 18 traveled quickly around Indianapolis on Tuesday evening.
24-Hour News 8 caught up with fans downtown who were just hearing the news.
“We're going to miss him," said Colts fan Patrick Harvey. "We're really going to miss Peyton.”
Even a Bears fan was shocked.
“I would try to keep him. I’m a huge fan. I think he's a great quarterback; he beat us in the Super Bowl,” Bears fan Andy McNulty said.
But one fan had a bigger perspective.
“It’s a sad day to see Peyton leave. It meant so much to the franchise. But its just business," Colts fan Frank Stephens said. "That's all it is. It’s just business.”
What do they think about Peyton’s future?
“I think he'll come back with a vengeance, and we'll be hurting,” Stephens said.
Harvey added: “There will be life after Peyton. … With the No. 1 first-round draft pick, who knows what'll happen? But it'll be tough. Peyton's meant a lot to this franchise.”
