INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Lucas Oil Stadium abuzz again with football talk, but this time, microphones, cameras and notepads are the main tools of the trade.
The NFL world has once again come to the Circle City, a chance for both team and player to potentially find a match.
Coaches say the player proof of performance is on film, but this is where intangibles come into play.
“When you come here, you get a chance to see how a guy's wired-up, you have a chance to interview a guy, you have a chance to kind of get a feel for what he's like, does he fit the identity of A 49er, that's really important coming out of this thing," said San Francisco head coach Mike Singletary.
And so is making an impression. Five-foot-five and a quarter LSU return specialist Trendan Holliday, fastest man in college football with his 4.2 second 40 yard dash says being the only return man here can help, and hurt.
“It's good because I can come in and work out for all the teams, and show the teams what I got, but it's bad because when the kickers and punters start kicking and punting Friday, I'm the only one back there," said Holliday.
For others, the all important combine is just another tool to get to your goal.
“I'm confident in what I do. I feel confident in the things I can do on the football field, so this is no big deal for me,” said Baylor center J.D. Walton.
All he feels like he needs is a chance.
As for the Colts? NFL insider John Clayton says the horseshoes should be looking for one thing and Walton might be a good fit.
“They've got to fix the offensive line. They've drafted for the offensive line the last couple years, but obviously that hasn't worked out, but you can see the running game needs help, and now with Howard Mudd retiring, they've got to upgrade the talent on the offensive line," said Clayton.
Only Bill Polian knows for sure something the world will find out in April’s draft.
