INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - The Indianapolis Colts will look to end the season on a three-game winning streak, but is that enough to keep Jim Caldwell safe as head coach?
There’s been a lot of speculation about Caldwell and if he will return next season to the team, after the Colts nearly had a winless season.
Monday night while taping the Bill Polian Show, the Colts Vice Chairman told WISH-TV Sports Director Anthony Calhoun about his coach’s future.
“We all serve at Mr. Irsay's (Colts owner) pleasure. That's number one," Polian said. "We'll sit down and talk with Mr. Irsay after the season. He'll have some questions for us. We'll answer those questions as best as we can and then he'll make the decision that he thinks is best for the franchise.”
Polian defended Caldwell's coaching this season.
“I don't think that anyone who's at any way objective would deny that Coach Caldwell has done a great job of reaching these players and motivating these players and keeping them on target and playing hard," Polian said, "and when that happens you have to give the coach a pat on the back for that and I'm sure Mr. Irsay will recognize that."
The Colts finish the season on Sunday at Jacksonville at 1 p.m. The game will air on WISH-TV. Polian talks more about the Colts on The Bill Polian Show coming up on Saturday at 11:30 p.m. on WISH-TV.
