Postseason has already begun for Arians

Colts need one more win to advance to playoffs

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - While the Colts still need to win one more game to get into the playoffs, the postseason has already started for Bruce Arians.

“This is the playoffs,” said Arians, when asked if there was a bigger sense of urgency this week preparing for Kansas City.

“We realize what’s on the table,” added Colts quarterback Andrew Luck. “If we can win, a chance to get into the playoffs. I think we are excited about that opportunity and realize this is the biggest game we’ve played yet this year.”

Winning this week would appear a lot easier than next. The Colts face a 2-12 Kansas City squad followed by the AFC South leading Houston Texans.

That doesn’t mean they’re expecting an easy win this Sunday.

“It’s the NFL. You can’t underestimate anybody,” said Colts linebacker Robert Mathis. “Last year, we were sitting in the same spot, not many wins, but at the same time we came to play each and every week. That’s what they do. They get paid to do a job and they do it very well.”

This Sunday could also be Bruce Arians' final game as interim head coach for the Colts. The team still hopes Coach Pagano will return for their regular season finale Dec. 30 against Houston. Arians certainly doesn’t mind handing back the reins.

“Heck yea I am,” Arians exclaimed when asked if he was ready to coach his last game as head coach.  “Hopefully we can get this victory and secure our playoff spot.”
