Teams already vying for Peyton's talent

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) - Peyton Manning’s reported release by the Colts instantly begs the question, if he’s healthy, where will he play?

Since he’s been under contract, no teams have commented publicly about their interest in the four-time NFL most valuable player, but it’s obvious what teams are in need of a signal caller that could be destinations.

We can start in the AFC. Miami seems to be the most logical destination; The Dolphins have some offensive talent to build around, but no top quarterback. Miami’s owner needs to make a splash to help sell tickets, and Manning would be a good fit. They have a new head coach, and bringing in a new QB in a flashy market would instantly make the Dolphins credible again. We’ve also seen the billboard that some Miami fans have paid for showing Peyton in a Dolphins uniform, so expect Miami to be a player in the Manning sweepstakes.

Some think the New York Jets are a possibility, but I tend to think not. Mark Sanchez has had his problems, but Rex Ryan seems to be committed to his young quarterback. The thought of the two Mannings sharing the same stadium in the same city is exciting to many in the big apple.

The other possible AFC destinations? Denver. Team president John Elway isn’t completely sold on Tim Tebow despite his amazing season in the Mile High city, so don’t count out the Broncos, and Kansas City is not out if the question.

As for possible NFC destinations, Many feel Washington is possible, but I highly doubt it. The Redskins are not close to being a playoff team, and I can’t imagine Peyton would want to play in the same division as brother Eli.

The other two teams that could make a play for Manning include San Francisco, even though they did reach the NFC title game behind Alex Smith, he’s a free agent, and Manning would be a huge upgrade. Arizona is also a maybe. The Cardinals have good skill position players, and they could be a quarterback away from making a run.
